About

"By learning you will teach; by teaching you will learn."

Xander Stephan is from Durham, Connecticut and has been deeply involved in music from a young age. He is a proficient conductor and is trained in voice, piano, and concert/marching percussion. He has also recently been having a wonderful time teaching himself guitar and tuba!

Throughout his journey, Xander has found himself in many different roles including participating in and leading large instrumental and vocal ensembles, starring in and music directing musical theatre productions, teaching private lessons at various skill levels, and audio engineering large-scale recordings.

Described by his colleagues as a "naturally dynamic person" and a "natural born leader", Xander creates an encouraging and supportive classroom environment in which his students feel safe to explore themselves and the world around them through connecting with music. At the same time, he also puts an emphasis on hard work and quality performance informed by individualized and student-driven interpretations.

Xander graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor's of Music in Music Education with a concentration in vocal performance and a Minor in Arts Leadership, Summa Cum Laude. He currently serves as the General Music Specialist at Harrington Elementary School in Lexington, MA, teaching choir and general music curriculum to students in grades K-4.

In the future, Xander hopes to pursue a Master's in Conducting, Choral Conducting, or Elementary Music Teaching. He is adamant about continuing to find learning experiences in all aspects of his career and is excited for the many experiences to come.
